Publix takes Hurricane Protection for Tampa Bay Seriously!
At a recent shopping trip to my local Tampa Bay Publix, I was surprised and happy to see a sign advocating that I visit www.publix.com/storm. I am pleased to announce that this is yet another great site with excellent information for residents of Florida and other areas that might be targets for hurricane activity.

The Publix site includes a link to developing an emergency plan with their partner, OneStorm, as well as downloadable checklists for emergency supplies and non-perishable foods. In addition, there is a free downloadable guide that Publix is also giving away at their stores. If you cannot find one at your local Publix, make sure to ask a Customer Service agent for help!
I applaud Publix for taking this step and spending their marketing money on a worthy cause. Hurricane Safety is extremely important and it is great to see Publix taking a lead here. Thanks Publix!

Lawsuit Drama in the Midst of Flood Damage Crisis Nashville
Today we read an article portraying recent events in Nashville. Further to the drama created by the extreme flood of 2010, the city now has a lawsuit on its hands. Apparently, when President Obama declared the area a disaster area, making it able to receive federal aid, the city opened up a bid for the city water cleanup to disaster recovery companies. As cited in the article, the job was both given and taken away to the lowest bidder on the same day because the company, Bamaco Inc., could not deliver a performance bond. Bamaco now has the city tangled up in a lawsuit that “appears to be mainly focused on extracting damages from the city” and Bamaco’s lawyers have “suggested that bidding irregularities could lead the federal government to strip Metro Nashville of the aid from Washington that it is counting on as flood recovery efforts continue”.
Who says that disaster recovery is boring?
An interesting note here is that Bamaco has a history of filing suits around disaster periods. Ironically, the Attorney for Bamaco states, “We recognize that filing a lawsuit in the context of an enormous disaster, when the city is in a recovery mode, is something where we’ve got to tread very lightly…But gosh, we also feel like these are the times when it is most important that the government follow fair procedures.”
It is certain that this suit will go on for a while. In the meantime, it is our hope that the parties get everything figured out to a point where the citizens of the area are not affected negatively. The residents of Davidson County have suffered enough and desperately need their cities and streets to be cleaned up.

Thinking about the Poor People in Tennessee’s flood rampage
Thinking about the poor people in Tennessee’s flood rampage
Just wanted to take a moment to put out some positive energy for the residents of Tennessee. Their battle with severe storms and flash floods over the last few days has been horrible. At Advanced Restoration, Inc., we deal with disasters caused from storms and water damage all the time but seeing footage of the Nashville Titans football stadium in Nashville under water blew me away.
I am happy to report that the water damage to the stadium had been reported to be minor. Equally, I am unhappy to hear about the billions of losses, including loved ones.
To our associates in the restoration industry in Tennessee, our hats are off to you as we know what jobs lie ahead for you as you help restore Tennessee to it’s former beauty.

Water-related damage causes millions of dollars of losses each year. A sampling of 63 percent of California home insurers found that water-related losses totaled $1.7 billion between 1997 and 2001. Based on the survey data, the average cost of a water claim in 2001 was $4,730, up from $2,537 in 1997, nearly doubling the average cost of a water claim in four years.

What you should do and who you should call if you have a water damage or mold problem. 1-877-DRY-ME-OUT 1-877-DRY-ME-OUT www.DryMeOut.com “Dry Me Out”
When it comes to water, damage might be the last place you would expect to encounter major problems, but don’t allow the dry and dusty landscape to deceive you; water damage take can take place anywhere and at any time. Broken pipes, flash flooding or even septic problems can result in extensive water related damage throughout your home or office.
Time is of the essence when water damage strikes. Rather than spending precious time searching for all the different types of companies that work with water damage repair residents should use a single point of contact able to meet all their needs at once. The most urgent requirements include:
•Water extraction services; mold and mildew can begin growing in as little as 24 to 48 hours. Search for a company that provides 24/7 assistance and a one year guarantee – preferably with the ability to store your furniture and belonging in the meantime.
•Water damage repair; carpeting, wood floors, drywall and furniture may all be impacted by water damage. Use a company that is fully licensed, bonded and insured as well as certified in water damage repair in order to avoid extensive insurance rate hikes and payment delays.
•Removal of contaminated materials. Depending upon the source of the water your home and belongings may be contaminated with anything from raw sewage to petroleum based products. Due to the health risk, contaminated products must be properly disposed of and the remaining area treated. Find a qualified water damage expert able to remove and properly dispose of contaminated materials then provide proper treatment including sanitizing and disinfecting impacted areas.
Although it might seem tempting to grab a wet/dry vac and try to do it yourself that is usually a big mistake and very costly in the long run. Insurance companies, mortgage underwriters and home buyers are increasingly turning to C.L.U.E. reports before purchasing a home. Failure to professionally clean, treat and mitigate water related damages may result in a reduction of selling price and increased insurance premiums for years to come. Since C.L.U.E. reports remain with the home, not the homeowner, there is no reliable method to “un-do” the damage once it has been done. Plan to demonstrate that all repairs were performed by professionals in accordance to recognized standards in the industry by selecting a reputable water damage repair and mitigation company like Advanced Restoration Inc. Their nationwide reputation and certification by the Institute of Inspection, Cleaning and Restoration assures the work was performed to the highest standards.
